KATHUA, JULY 21:
Kathua Police has achieved significant milestones during the first 100 days of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, strengthening its campaign against narcotics through sustained enforcement and preventive initiatives across the district.
Working under the leadership of SSP Mohita Sharma, police adopted a comprehensive approach aimed at dismantling drug networks, targeting financial assets of offenders, enhancing surveillance, and expanding community awareness. The campaign resulted in the registration of 102 NDPS cases and the arrest of 127 accused allegedly involved in narcotics-related activities.
Besides criminal action, the district police pursued financial investigations by attaching properties linked to drug trafficking, freezing bank accounts and initiating legal proceedings against assets suspected to have been acquired through proceeds of crime. Illegal narcotic cultivation was also destroyed, while seized contraband was disposed of in accordance with legal provisions.
The campaign further included inspections of medical establishments, action against violators, preventive detention of repeat offenders, installation of CCTV cameras, awareness programmes in educational institutions and villages, and close coordination with the public to curb drug abuse.
Highlighting the importance of public participation, SSP Mohita Sharma appealed to citizens to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by reporting drug-related activities. She said the fight against narcotics requires collective responsibility and sustained cooperation to ensure a safer and drug-free Kathua.
