Kishtwar, July 23: Ahead of the annual Shri Chandi Mata Machail Yatra, Kishtwar Police on Thursday conducted a high-level security review meeting to finalise comprehensive arrangements aimed at ensuring a safe, smooth, and well-coordinated pilgrimage.
The meeting was chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Naresh Singh (JKPS) and witnessed the participation of senior officers from Kishtwar Police, the Indian Army, CISF, NDRF, SDRF, Traffic Police, Fire & Emergency Services, along with representatives of the civil administration and other concerned departments.
During the meeting, SSP Naresh Singh presented the overall security blueprint for the pilgrimage, highlighting route security, sector-wise deployment of forces, traffic regulation, pilgrim movement plans, communication-sensitive zones, and emergency response mechanisms. Officials also reviewed strategies for surveillance, checkpoint management, and coordination among various agencies to ensure effective monitoring throughout the Yatra.
Special emphasis was laid on strengthening security through modern surveillance measures, including CCTV monitoring and drone-based observation at vulnerable locations. Discussions also covered disaster management preparedness, medical response, fire safety, parking arrangements, and traffic regulation to facilitate hassle-free movement of pilgrims.
The SSP directed all participating agencies to maintain seamless coordination, ensure timely sharing of intelligence and operational inputs, and keep emergency response teams on high alert. He also instructed officers to ensure the availability of essential facilities such as medical assistance, drinking water, sanitation, and accommodation at designated halting points in coordination with the civil administration.
Calling for maximum preparedness, SSP Naresh Singh urged all stakeholders to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism and vigilance, stressing that every aspect of the security and management plan must be implemented effectively to ensure a peaceful and successful conduct of the Annual Shri Chandi Mata Machail Yatra.
