Srinagar, August 3: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, IPS, chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR), Kashmir, to assess the prevailing security situation and review security preparedness ahead of forthcoming events across the Valley.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, BSF, CRPF, SSB, CID, ITBP, RPF, intelligence agencies and other security organizations. During the meeting, officers briefed the IGP on the security situation in their respective jurisdictions and discussed the measures being implemented to address emerging challenges.
Reviewing the overall security framework, IGP V.K. Birdi directed officers to maintain a high level of preparedness and further strengthen existing security arrangements. He emphasized close coordination among all security agencies to ensure a proactive and effective security grid across Kashmir.
The IGP also reviewed security measures for National Highways, railway tracks, railway stations and other key installations. He instructed officers to enhance security deployments, establish dynamic checkpoints (nakas) and increase foot patrolling, particularly during night hours and in vulnerable areas.
Highlighting the importance of protecting critical infrastructure and civilians, Shri Birdi directed district police officers to intensify area domination, strengthen surveillance in sensitive locations and take all necessary preventive measures to maintain peace and public safety.
He further stressed the need to enhance intelligence-based operations against anti-national and anti-social elements while ensuring strict monitoring of social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation, rumours and malicious content that could disturb law and order or communal harmony.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from all participating agencies to strengthen coordination, maintain heightened vigilance and ensure effective implementation of security measures for safeguarding peace and stability across the Kashmir Valley.
