Reasi, July 18: Intensifying its crackdown on narcotics under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police has attached two residential properties allegedly acquired through drug trafficking, invoking the provisions of Section 68F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to police, the attached houses belong to two habitual narcotics offenders from the Katra area. Each property is estimated to be worth nearly ₹10 lakh, taking the total value of the attached assets to approximately ₹20 lakh.
One of the properties belongs to Laqut Ali, son of Kala Mohd, a resident of Chak Bhagta, Katra. He is an accused in FIR No. 103/2024 registered under Sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act and FIR No. 185/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. He is presently lodged in Sub Jail Reasi under judicial custody.
The second attached house belongs to Hussain Mohd, son of Sharief Mohd, a resident of Chamba Chandua, Katra. He is facing prosecution in FIR No. 51/2023 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and FIR No. 122/2016 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the Act. He is currently detained under the PIT NDPS Act and is lodged in District Jail Rajouri.
Police said that a detailed investigation revealed that both properties were prima facie constructed or acquired using proceeds generated through illegal narcotics trafficking. Acting on these findings, the properties were attached under Section 68F of the NDPS Act to prevent their sale, transfer, or any other form of disposal during the legal proceedings.
Reasi Police reaffirmed its resolve to strike at the financial backbone of drug networks by targeting assets created through illicit earnings. The department said its campaign against drug trafficking will continue with full force and appealed to the public to share credible information about narcotics-related activities to support the mission of building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
