Srinagar, July 15: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Wednesday visited the Special Operations Group (SOG) headquarters at the Cargo complex in Srinagar to review the force’s operational preparedness and interact with officers and personnel deployed at the facility.
The DGP was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, and other senior police officers. During the visit, he undertook a comprehensive assessment of the existing security arrangements, operational capabilities, infrastructure, and overall preparedness of the SOG in view of the prevailing security scenario in the Kashmir Valley.
Senior officers briefed the DGP on the current security situation, ongoing anti-terror operations, intelligence coordination, and the measures being taken to strengthen the security grid. The review also covered response mechanisms, deployment strategies, and preparedness to effectively deal with emerging security challenges.
Interacting with SOG personnel, DGP Nalin Prabhat appreciated their dedication, courage, and professionalism in carrying out counter-terrorism operations and maintaining law and order. He acknowledged the significant role played by the SOG in ensuring peace and stability across the Valley and encouraged the personnel to continue performing their duties with the same commitment and vigilance.
Emphasising the need for constant alertness, the DGP stressed that operational readiness, seamless coordination among security agencies, and intelligence-based policing remain key to effectively tackling evolving security threats. He also underscored the importance of maintaining high professional standards, discipline, and public confidence while discharging policing responsibilities.
The visit concluded with a detailed review of operational preparedness and welfare-related aspects concerning the personnel. The DGP reaffirmed the police leadership’s commitment to strengthening the capabilities of the force and providing all necessary support to ensure effective policing and a robust security framework in Jammu and Kashmir.
