Srinagar, June 22: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Monday chaired a high-level security review meeting to assess the prevailing security situation in South Kashmir and evaluate preparedness for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of various security agencies, including the Army’s Victor Force, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and Jammu and Kashmir Police. Senior Superintendents of Police from South Kashmir districts also participated and presented comprehensive reports on the current security landscape, counter-terrorism measures, and arrangements being made for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
During the review, officers briefed the DGP on ongoing security operations, intelligence-based initiatives, area domination plans, and the deployment strategy designed to safeguard pilgrims and secure vulnerable locations along the Yatra routes.
Emphasizing the need for a coordinated approach, DGP Nalin Prabhat directed all security agencies to strengthen inter-force cooperation, maintain effective intelligence sharing, and ensure seamless operational coordination. He underscored the importance of sustained vigilance and a robust security framework to effectively address any emerging challenges.
The DGP reiterated that ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims remains the foremost priority. He called for enhanced surveillance, strategic deployment of personnel, and continuous monitoring of sensitive areas to facilitate the peaceful and successful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
Appreciating the efforts of all security personnel, he urged the forces to continue working in close coordination to maintain peace, stability, and a secure environment across the region during the pilgrimage period.
