JAMMU, June 20: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, on Saturday said that the abrogation of Article 370 has brought about a remarkable change in the mindset of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly among the youth, resulting in greater aspirations, confidence and achievements.
Speaking during an interaction, Dr. Singh said that young people from even the remotest areas of Jammu and Kashmir are now excelling in academics and competitive examinations, reflecting a growing culture of ambition and opportunity.
“Today, students from small towns and far-flung regions are securing top positions in examinations and performing exceptionally well in competitive tests. A new wave of aspiration has emerged among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The Minister observed that the constitutional changes of August 2019 strengthened the sense of belonging among the people of Jammu and Kashmir by ensuring their complete integration with the rest of the country.
“Earlier, many people felt disconnected and deprived of equal opportunities. Today, they consider themselves equal stakeholders in the nation with the same rights and opportunities as any other citizen. This transformation in mindset has significantly contributed to the rise in aspirations among the younger generation,” he added.
Highlighting the social changes witnessed after the abrogation of Article 370, Dr. Singh said that several sections of society, which had previously remained outside the mainstream, have now gained access to equal rights and opportunities.
According to the Minister, the new environment has enabled talent and hard work to emerge as the primary drivers of success, motivating young people to pursue higher education, entrepreneurship, professional careers and public service.
PM Modi Has the Vision to Resolve PoJK Issue: Dr Jitendra Singh
Commenting on Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), Dr. Singh reiterated India’s position that the territory remains an integral part of the country.
He referred to the unanimous Parliamentary Resolution passed in 1994, which declared the entire regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh as integral parts of India, noting that the Bharatiya Janata Party had strongly backed the resolution.
“There is no issue between India and Pakistan except the issue of PoJK and its eventual reunification with India,” he said.
Dr. Singh further asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi possesses the leadership and determination necessary to address the issue.
“If anyone has the resolve, capability and commitment to resolve the PoJK issue, it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he stated.
The Union Minister also alleged that residents of PoJK have faced prolonged neglect and discrimination under Pakistani administration.
Dr. Singh said that the changes witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few years reflect a broader transformation in governance, development and public participation.
He noted that the emergence of achievers from remote regions and the increasing participation of youth in education, innovation and competitive sectors demonstrate the positive impact of expanded opportunities in the Union Territory.
“Jammu and Kashmir is moving forward with renewed confidence, ambition and greater participation of its youth in nation-building,” he said.SEO Title: Article 370 Abrogation Sparked Aspirational Surge Among J&K Youth: Dr Jitendra Singh
