SRINAGAR, JULY 24:Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Friday chaired a comprehensive security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, focusing on the Union Territory’s overall security environment, operational preparedness, and strategies to address emerging challenges.
The meeting brought together senior officers from the Police Headquarters, CID, Crime, Security, Railways, Traffic, Armed Police, Intelligence, Telecommunications, and district police units from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Officers reviewed the prevailing law and order situation, ongoing security measures, and preparedness to respond to any potential threats.
During the discussions, the DGP stressed the need for enhanced ground-level policing by increasing area domination, strengthening night patrols, and maintaining a strong security presence in sensitive and densely populated locations. He directed field officers to remain proactive and ensure that vulnerable areas receive continuous monitoring.
Nalin Prabhat also underlined the importance of intelligence-based policing, asking officers to sharpen information gathering and improve coordination among security and intelligence agencies. He said timely intelligence and swift operational action remain vital for preventing attempts to disturb peace and maintaining a secure environment across the Union Territory.
The DGP further reviewed the security arrangements around key government establishments and other critical infrastructure, instructing officers to regularly assess vulnerabilities and reinforce protection wherever necessary.
Recognising the importance of communication during security operations and emergencies, he called for reliable and uninterrupted connectivity across all police formations. Officers were also asked to remain prepared for weather-related challenges by ensuring that communication systems, emergency response mechanisms, and field coordination remain fully functional at all times.
Concluding the review, the DGP urged officers to stay alert, disciplined, and responsive while working in close coordination with all stakeholders. He emphasized that continuous preparedness, effective intelligence, and coordinated policing are essential for preserving peace, public safety, and confidence across Jammu and Kashmir.
