Srinagar, June 27<\/strong>: Ahead of the commencement of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called upon civil society, religious leaders, business associations and people from all walks of life to join hands in ensuring the successful and peaceful conduct of the pilgrimage, describing it as a living example of faith, communal harmony and selfless service.<\/p>\n

Addressing an interaction with representatives of civil society, trade bodies, religious organisations and senior officials, the Lieutenant Governor said the Yatra is not merely a religious pilgrimage but also an opportunity to showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s age-old traditions of hospitality, compassion, brotherhood and human service before the world. He urged every citizen to contribute in making the pilgrimage a spiritually enriching and memorable experience for lakhs of devotees.<\/p>\n

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 28. Sinha said the administration, in coordination with the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and security agencies, has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure a safe, secure and hassle-free pilgrimage. He said roads have been upgraded, communication facilities strengthened, healthcare and sanitation services enhanced and modern infrastructure developed to provide better facilities to pilgrims.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of the Yatra, the Lieutenant Governor said it has shaped the region’s faith and identity for centuries and continues to inspire millions of devotees from across India and abroad. He said the pilgrimage symbolizes the eternal bond between devotees and Lord Shiva while also promoting unity among people belonging to different religions and communities.<\/p>\n

Sinha noted that every year people from all faiths\u2014including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and others\u2014come together in the spirit of service to assist pilgrims. He said this tradition of communal harmony and mutual respect remains one of Jammu and Kashmir’s greatest strengths and should continue to serve as an example of unity and humanity.<\/p>\n

He also acknowledged the crucial role played by civil society, religious leaders, social organisations and business communities in the successful conduct of the Yatra. Welcoming their suggestions, he assured that all practical recommendations would be examined for implementation to further improve the pilgrimage experience.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, representatives of civil society, trade and business associations, religious organisations and social groups extended their full support to the administration and appreciated the significant improvements made in recent years in infrastructure, security, healthcare, sanitation and pilgrim facilities.<\/p>\n

Later, speaking to reporters, the Lieutenant Governor said discussions with civil society representatives, political leaders, MLAs and other stakeholders were highly positive, with everyone assuring complete cooperation for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. He said the interaction has further strengthened coordination and mutual trust between the administration and stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Reiterating the administration’s commitment, Sinha said all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a safe, secure and well-managed Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
